As part of the 2014-2020 Operational Programnes financed by Cohesion Policy funds (ERDF, Cohesion Fund and European Social Fund), 20 307 operations were approved involving a total amount of investment of 15.4 000 M€ and a Community contribution of 10.3 000 M€. Much of the approved support (31%) is aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). For investment in Education, Training and Vocational Training, for skills acquisition and Lifelong Learning, a significant part of the approved support, or 22%, also contributes. In addition, support for strengthening research, technological development and innovation (12%) should also be highlighted.
