The study by Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation, coordinated by Augusto Mateus, analyzes in detail the development of Portugal over the first three decades of European Union integration.
In this book available online for consultation, the position of Portugal in the European context is studied when entering a new structural programming cycle (2014-2020), also encompassing the most recent enlargement, the great transformations of the Economic and Monetary Union and the acceleration of globalization.
The study provides tools for understanding economic and social transformation, allowing the formation of diverse and plural readings on the profound changes in the time of a generation.
This work is structured into three parts:
Looks (evolution of the economy and society since 1986) - development of the economy and society since joining the European Union.
Portraits (Positioning of Portugal in the European Union on 50 indicators) - fifty indicators summarize the position of Portugal in the European Union in three important moments in recent history (1999, 2007 and 2013).
Funds (Structural Evolution of EU funding to Portugal) - analyzes the structural funding available to Portugal, with a full view of the implementation framework of the last structural programming cycle (2007-2013).
