On July 3 Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation will host the presentation of the Waste Cluster Strategic Plan in Portugal. The public session takes place at 9:30 am and will be attended by the Minister for Environment, Territorial Planning and Energy, Jorge Moreira da Silva.
In the event the new brand strategy and goals for the waste sector will be presented. "Innovation, cooperation and dynamism" are the three axes intended with this new strategy that aims to make a "positive contribution to the country and to affirm the importance of waste management for the development of circular economy."
Jean Pierre Hannequart, Honorary President of ACR + and former Director of the IBGE will also participate in the event and speak about "The Circular Economy and Challenges for Europe". A study by Augusto Mateus & Associados about the contribution of Circular Economy to the socio-economic and environmental development in Portugal will also be presented.
The Waste Cluster was announced on February 27, 2015 and then an Installation Committee was created to prepare the plan that is now displayed.
