Today, March 8, PO SEUR will attend the workshop "Contribution of Sport to Regional Development through the Structural Funds", in The Hague, the Netherlands. This workshop aims to present examples of good practice regarding the implementation of European funds for co-financing sports facilities projects.
Helena Azevedo, President of the Programme Steering Committee, will present the case of the CAR network - High Performance Sports Centers, supported by NSRF 2007-2013 under POVT - Operational Programme for Territorial Enhancement, and inserted in a logic of infrastructure and sports equipment to ensure the necessary allocation of sporting excellence centers located in urban areas with development potential in this area and aimed to increase the competitiveness of these territories and to provide significant gains in terms of economic and social cohesion.
Special attention will be given to the design of the High Performance Centre of Sangalhos - National Velodrome, located in Anadia, which also includes a presentation of the Vice-Mayor of Anadia, Jorge Sampaio.
Order No. 11258/2015, published in the 2nd series of the State Gazette No. 197 of October 8, defines this national network of high performance centers, consisting of 13 sports facilities, recognizing the Sports Foundation as the organization of national coordination and international promotion of high performance centers. These sports centers of excellence have been developed since 2009, and 11 had the support of EU funds, an amount of ERDF of about 44.2 million euros.
